The Classic Cartoon Collection Archive was founded in 2006 by Charles Young, a former producer of a major network television company. He spent many years working to develop television programs that were both appropriate and entertaining for children of all ages. Upon retirement, he realized that there did not exist a single repository of classic cartoons from the late 1930’s through the mid 1950’s. It was his desire to establish an institution at which visitors could watch classic cartoons, view original art and storyboard designs, and learn more about the history behind the cartoons.
Hours of Operation
The Archive is open Monday – Friday from 10 to 6, and from 10 – 5 on Saturdays. However, many of the videos that are available for viewing in the Archive are also accessible from our video archive. You can watch Classic Cartoons Collection films from the comfort of your living room, just as they were meant to be viewed.

Although the Archive is host to hundreds of classic cartoons, there are several collections that have recently been accessioned and of which we are particularly proud:
- The Popeye Collection
- Merrie Melodies
- Noveltoon Adventures
If you wish to see a video that is not currently a part of our collection, or if you would like to donate a recording of a classic cartoon, please contact our information desk and ask for the archivist. We are constantly updating our archives with new material, and have the ability to work with reel-to-reel, 8mm, Video8, Beta, Betamax, Betacam, and VHS. We also have capabilities for working with celluloid, acetate, or nitrate film stock. Although we are not currently accessioning newer cartoons, we are trying to compile a complete collections of cartoons from their earliest days until the late 1980s.
